Self-Determination and Care

Living self-determined feels extremely energy-sapping at the time being. Life is challenging enough in many aspects anyway. The Corona-Pandemic means additional demands for me:

  • I have to do a lot of changements in my habits, such as finding a new daily rythm, being physicaly distant but emotionally close, adapt the things I like with the actual possibilities I have, planning and replanning...
  • My constant inner conflicts about very diverse information and opinions. I feel exhausted, misunderstood and lonely with all the endless discussions about what is right or wrong and true or fake. I try to balance all reasonings into a state I can live with, trying hard to find the place where opposits can meet.
  • I feel disappointed about a lot of joyful events postponed again and again for to be cancelled finally. Meanwhile a fix part of the planning is the thought that it’s not going to happen anyway.
  • I feel insecure, because a lot of things I know are not anymore what they used to be.  I have the feeling that there is not much left to rely on. I feel puzzled because everything seems to be constantly transforming.
  • I am frightened to be infected with Covid-19 because I might  infect someone else. Also the unknown consequences of the pandemic and the uncertainty of the future are scaring me.

Fortunately it turned out that my experience of self-care is reliable: When I am exhausted and cannot think of a way out it always helps to look for my actual needs and care for it. That could be a nice cup of tea, preparing myself a good meal or going out for a walk. Anything goes that makes me feel better.  And most important: I am allowed to ask for help if I cannot do it myself (anymore). Living self-determined does not mean to abstain from help.

Tender loving care always helped me to recover: I feel new strength, energy and courage to face my challenges. Therefore it feels naturally to me to support the wellbeing of other persons as well. In this way bonds and resonance are arising despite of all contact-restrictions - mighty potentials we can only create in community and available for all of us.

I strongly believe that this is way we can manage an awful lot – including a pandemic.

So, let’s get started to make us feel good!
